TEI is an acronym for Text Encoding Initiative. The TEI develops guidelines for the digital representation of texts. For transcriptions of spoken language, there is an ISO standard based on TEI. TEI Drop works with this standard, and it supports:

  • the file formats of CHAT, ELAN, EXMARaLDA, FOLKER and Transcriber
  • the transcription systems HIAT and cGAT
